Anti-Ragging Policy

Arya College is firmly committed to providing a safe, respectful and dignified environment for every student. Ragging in any form — physical, verbal, psychological or online — is strictly prohibited on campus, in hostels, and in any space associated with the college. The college upholds a zero-tolerance policy against ragging and takes all incidents with the utmost seriousness.

As per the directives of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India and the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations, ragging includes any act that causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological harm, or raises apprehension or fear, shame or embarrassment to a student. This includes, but is not limited to: • Any conduct that subjects a new student to ridicule, teasing, or harassment • Forcing students to perform acts that are humiliating, degrading, or against their will • Physical assault, harm, or threat of harm in any form • Verbal abuse, name-calling, or derogatory remarks • Cyberbullying or online harassment targeting students • Withholding essential items, food, or access to facilities as a form of coercion

The college strictly adheres to the following regulations: • UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 • Hon'ble Supreme Court of India guidelines (Writ Petition No. 656/1998) • Relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code applicable to acts of ragging • State Government directives and university-level anti-ragging mandates Ragging is a punishable offence under Indian law. Students found guilty may face suspension, rustication, or legal proceedings.

The college has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad as mandated by the UGC. These bodies are responsible for: • Monitoring the campus for incidents of ragging • Receiving and investigating complaints • Taking prompt disciplinary action • Conducting awareness programmes for students and staff • Coordinating with law enforcement when necessary The composition of the committee includes senior faculty members, administrative staff, student representatives, and external members from the local community.

Any student who experiences or witnesses ragging is encouraged to report it immediately. Complaints can be made through the following channels: • Directly to the Principal's office • To any member of the Anti-Ragging Committee • By email to info@aryacollege.co.in • Through the National Anti-Ragging Helpline: 1800-180-5522 (toll-free) • Online at the UGC Anti-Ragging Portal: www.antiragging.in • Through written complaint deposited in the Complaint Box on campus All complaints are treated with strict confidentiality. The identity of the complainant will be protected at all times.

Students found guilty of ragging following a fair inquiry process shall be liable to one or more of the following penalties: • Cancellation of admission • Suspension from attending classes • Withholding or withdrawal of scholarship or fellowship • Debarring from examinations, academic activities or placements • Withholding of results • Expulsion from the institution • Rustication from the institution for a period ranging from one to four semesters • Collective punishment if the identity of the individual perpetrator cannot be established In cases involving criminal acts, the matter shall be referred to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

All students admitted to Arya College are required to submit a signed undertaking at the time of admission, stating that they have read and understood the anti-ragging policy and agree to abide by it. Parents or guardians are also required to co-sign this undertaking. Failure to submit the undertaking may result in the cancellation of admission.

The college conducts regular awareness programmes, orientation sessions, and workshops to sensitise students, staff, and parents about the harmful effects of ragging. Senior students are encouraged to act as mentors and create a welcoming environment for juniors. Notices regarding the anti-ragging policy are prominently displayed across the campus, hostels, and all institutional premises.
